If you have too much body fat (especially in your waist area) you're at higher risk for health problems, including high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

There are many factors that commonly contribute to weight gain or difficulty losing weight, including:

Eating too much
Not enough exercise
Blood sugar imbalances
Insulin resistance Stress – excess cortisol
Other hormone imbalances
A nutrient deficient diet
‘Bad’ fats in the diet Food additives (e.g. MSG)
Insufficient fibre in the diet
Abnormal gut bacteria
Food intolerances or allergies
Food cravings and excess appetite
Emotional factors – e.g. comfort eating

We are all different and one or more of these factors may be involved if we are overweight and finding it difficult to lose it. Identifying which factors affect us personally and taking the appropriate action will lead to a successful outcome.

Let’s take just one of these factors, insulin resistance, which is a major factor for many overweight people over the age of 35. Insulin is a hormone that carries glucose (sugar) from your blood into your cells so that it can be burned for energy. Insulin also makes it easier for you to store body fat, worsening weight gain and making fat loss more difficult.

Insulin resistance is when the receptors on your cells do not respond to insulin appropriately, so the sugar in your blood can’t get into your cells. To compensate, your pancreas produces even more insulin to try to move the sugar from your blood into your cells. High insulin levels are not a good thing and are an independent risk factor for heart disease and can lead to diabetes. Insulin also contributes to increased appetite (especially for carbohydrates and sugary foods), which, in turn, leads to further weight gain. People who maintain a healthy weight and enjoy regular physical activity rarely develop insulin resistance, even if they have an underlying genetic predisposition.

If you answer ‘yes’ to six or more questions it is very possible that you have insulin resistance and would benefit from taking action to reverse it. Once you have insulin resistance it is much more difficult to lose weight.

Health Natural Weight Loss Plan

We have a range of supplements and services to effectively help with the various factors affecting weight loss, including insulin resistance.

Glucomannan (Konjac): This soluble fibre effectively reduces insulin resistance and curbs appetite.

Carb-Blocker: Prevents the conversion of starch to sugar. The starches are then eliminated rather than causing weight gain.

Glucose Support: A synergistic blend of ingredients to balance and maintain healthy blood sugar levels.

Super CLA Blend: This blend is designed to increase the burning of fats and also reduce the size and number of fat storing cells in your body.

Hoodia: A very effective and safe appetite suppressant with no known side effects. However, it is a scarce desert plant and most brands of Hoodia on sale are fakes. After much careful research AFM has found a reputable and effective brand.

Dietary Advice: Get your own customised food list. E.g. is a low Glycemic Load diet right for you?

Metabolic Type Testing: Knowing your Metabolic Type and which foods suit you best, not only helps you to lose weight but also become healthier too.
